An award-winning hotel right here in Norwood, Massachusetts! We’re delighted to share that Four Points by Sheraton Norwood has been named Marriott Select Brands 2023 Hotel of the Year among all Four Points by Sheraton’s in North America. The Marriott Select Brands Awards program recognizes and celebrates the outstanding achievements of hotel teams and individuals at MSB hotels across the globe. The awards honors top performers annually for their dedication to excellence.  This prestigious award is given to the Marriott Select Brand hotel that has consistently scored high guest ratings from verified guests.  The winning hotel must demonstrate teamwork, excellent sales efforts, and a commitment to overcoming challenges.  This award is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to providing a clean and welcoming environment along with the exceptional hospitality they deliver. The Four Points by Sheraton Norwood has been awarded this top honor an unprecedented two times in the past three years. 

General Manager, Shoumala Ghosh, states “My goal as a General Manager has been to make sure we have the right people in the right jobs.  This has meant some team members have undergone additional training, while some have been promoted or moved to other departments.”

From the minute a guest walks in the door to the moment of their departure, our TEAM has everything covered to ensure guests have a 5 star experience. Our front desk team greets with a smile, explaining our property and key points that will be important to guests during their stay. Our housekeeping team keeps our public areas and guest rooms impeccably clean, while ensuring rooms are ready on time for check-ins.  Our sales team fills the building with corporate and social events, keeping our culinary, banquet staff and conventions service team members busy servicing those guests.   Each department plays a key role in the overall operation and success of the hotel, and we make sure every employee knows that their efforts are not unnoticed.

We understand that guests who are staying on property may be staying with us for a variety of reasons whether for a meeting or social event or for leisure.  They also may be staying with us during more stressful times such as treatment at a hospital or in town for a funeral.  It is important to our team to get to know our guests so that we can anticipate their needs.  Simply asking how their day was, offering a bottle of water when we know someone has a long commute, or remembering that they come into town to visit grandchildren are some of the ways we connect with our guests.  We want them to feel as if they belong here. They may only utilize the hotel room, or they may take advantage of our indoor pool, fitness center, or one of our two onsite restaurants, either way, we take advantage of any opportunities to WOW our guests.

Our TEAM is here to welcome everyone with open arms and a genuine smile, we truly expect everyone to feel as though our property is their home away from home. 

A perfect example of why the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood stood out among all other Four Points hotels in North America is their ELL program.  Ghosh stated, “It is important to me that my team have a sense of belonging here at the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood.  Like many hotels, we have a large population of employees who are not native English speakers.  I know how challenging it can be to interact with guests and their fellow employees at times, and this group shows up with a smile on their face to work every day.”

After seeing an ELL class taking place at our local library, Ghosh really wanted to do something similar for her team.  Working with the library, they put together a program at the hotel. The Four Points by Sheraton Norwood had 46 employees’ express interest in these classes, and currently have 2 sessions totaling 20 students enrolled.  Classes take place at the hotel once a week for a 6-week session and are hosted free of charge to the students who are paid for the duration of their class. The rest of the team has rallied around our ELL students to help them practice their weekly words and conversations.  “I am incredibly proud of this program and hope to continue it for many upcoming years,” said Ghosh.

Our dedicated team member Elaine O’Brien has been recognized as Marriott Select Brands Team Member of the Year for her outstanding service and work ethic. Elaine has worked with the company for 8 years, she’s a dedicated hospitality professional and consistently makes a positive impression not only on our guests but with team members alike. In her current role, she handles the events for our One Bistro’s private dining room, One Seventeen.  Hardly an event goes by that doesn’t email us with accolades about Elaine’s service on these events.  Elaine has also cross trained in our restaurant as both a server and hostess and continues to have our ‘regulars’ looking for her. 

Elaine is an employee that every manager dreams of having on their team and who’s colleagues beg to be assigned to work with her.  Her drive keeps her constantly in motion and makes her one of the hardest working employees we have.

She is always the first to volunteer to help her colleagues and consistently is reviewed by clients for going the extra mile.  Elaine winning this award was not too surprising to us, being that she was also named the Employee of the Year within our organization in 2023. 

AAA Award

The recognitions don’t stop there, our hotel has been honored with the AAA Inspectors Best of Inspected Clean Hotels award. This award indicates our property’s cleanliness and condition rank in the top 25% of the 27,000 AAA Inspected hotels.  These recognitions all underscore our commitment to providing exceptional hospitality experiences and well as a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for our guests.
